Raised benign skin lesions are common and may include growths such as skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses and other non-cancerous lesions. While these lesions are typically harmless, some individuals may seek removal due to irritation, repeated trauma, cosmetic concern or interference with daily activities.
Removal of raised benign skin lesions is performed following appropriate medical assessment to confirm suitability for treatment. Where indicated, lesions may be removed using CO₂ laser technology, which allows for a high level of precision and control. The CO₂ laser enables targeted removal of the lesion while minimising impact to surrounding tissue, with the added benefit of simultaneous coagulation to reduce bleeding.
Potential advantages of CO₂ laser removal include accurate lesion targeting, reduced trauma to surrounding skin, shorter treatment times and favourable healing outcomes, particularly in cosmetically sensitive areas.
Not all skin lesions are suitable for removal in a cosmetic setting. Lesions that appear atypical, pigmented, changing or suspicious are not treated and may require further assessment or referral for dermatological review.
